Lynne, a National Quilting Association Certified Quilt Judge, has a lifelong involvement in quiltmaking and needlework. Encouraged by her grandmothers and mother she has continued the family tradition. In addition to making quilts in all styles, Lynne collects vintage quilts, needlework, and sewing accessories among other "stuff". Her collection began with quilts made for her by her grandmother and continues to grow as she preserves the work from the past.
Since 2000 she has traveled nationally to judge, lecture and teach. As a member of NQA, Lynne received her quilt judge certification in 2003, became qualified to judge masterpiece quilts and served on the Nominating Committee. In 2005 Lynne began writing the "Judge’s Perspective" articles for the National Quilting Association’s journal the Quilting Quarterly to provide information related to the judging process to all quiltmakers.
Lynne believes it is important for a judge to continue their education in the current designs and techniques, and quilt history. Not only does she regularly attend quilt lectures and classes, but in 2006 she completed a fine arts degree. As a teacher, one of Lynne's goals is to inspire quiltmakers to explore new techniques and designs, while always appreciating the qualities of earlier quilts. She also encourages quiltmakers to enter quilt shows to share their quilts and creative talents with others.
Professional memberships include the National Quilting Association, American Quilter's Society, International Quilt Association, Professional Art Quilter's Alliance, and the Prairie Star Quilt Guild of St. Charles, IL.
