Diane Pitchford, NQA Quilt Show Chair

Diane has been quilting for thirty years. While there were no quilters in her immediate family, her mother was an excellent seamstress. Diane's three sisters never learned to thread a needle but she was using the sewing machine at age four to sew pockets on her mother's aprons. Diane did inherit two sets of blocks her maternal grandmother made which are now finished quilts. The redwork blocks from 1915-1919 were set and hand quilted while the 30's appliqué butterflies were machine quilted.

Armed with a Bachelor of Science, Business Administration, Diane worked as a manager with a major electronics firm for 27 years. In 2001 she started a home based business as a custom machine quilter. Diane has been a member of the Arizona Quilters Guild since 1985 and has served on numerous committees and in board positions as Small Quilt Auction Chair, President-elect, President and Quilt Show Chair.

Currently Diane is a candidate in the Certified Judges program through The National Quilting Association. Her other professional memberships include the American Quilters Society and the Arizona Longarm Quilters. Diane loves antique quilts and was part of the Arizona Quilt Project for six years documenting antique quilts. Diane is also an instructor at a local quilt shop where she teaches binding and hand quilting.

Diane lives on a mini-farm in Gilbert, Arizona, with her best friend and husband Steve and way too many animals.
