There are many benefits to becoming an official Chapter of National Quilting Association, Inc. We are here to serve you as a body of quilters and the following are ways that we perform that task.
- Access to insurance coverage during your quilt show to cover both the quilts
and personal liability.
- Specially printed ribbons may be purchased for use at your Chapter's quilt
show. Ribbons available are 1st, 2nd, 3rd, Honorable Mention, Viewer's Choice, and Best
of Show. Cost is $1.00 each for 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and Honorable Mention ribbons and $5.50
each for Viewer's Choice and Best of Show Rosettes. Ribbons are available only to active
NQA chapters.

- An opportunity to share your activities or special programs and network with other
chapters and members through THE QUILTING QUARTERLY.
- A free announcement for your chapter's quilt show in
THE QUILTING QUARTERLY

In addition to the special benefits above, NQA offers for its members the following programs and services:
- Grant and Scholarship
Program - funds awarded annually to promote and recognize quilting and quilt
makers.
- Quilt Teacher
Certification Program - certifies a person's ability to teach basic quiltmaking.
- Quilt Judge Certification
Program - certifies a person's ability to judge quilts.
- Master Quilt
Program - awards formal recognition to quilts which have been constructed
reflecting a high degree of excellence.
- Short Course on Quilt Judging - a program of instruction to train individuals
to serve as fair, responsible evaluators at quilt competitions.
- Reduced fees for classes and quilt entries in Annual Show for NQA individual
members
Responsibilities of an NQA Chapter
Appoint or elect an NQA Chapter Coordinator. The liaison position should be a permanent office which does not change with each change of chapter officers. This will allow for continuity in meeting NQA responsibilities.
Duties of the Coordinator:
- Make available to the chapter all correspondence received from NQA.
- Keep the chapter members informed of NQA-sponsored activities.
- Keep an updated file on all NQA programs and services and make the information
available to the chapter members.
- Handle the annual chapter renewal and submit to the NQA office updated information
when chapter officers change.
- Send to the NQA office the chapter newsletter and information to the current
NQA Chapter Coordinator.
- Provide newsworthy items, photographs, and updated material to the editor of
THE QUILTING QUARTERLY for possible inclusion.
How To Become An NQA Chapter
- Fill out a Chapter Membership Form (PDF) and mail to NQA
- It is desirable for the chapter to have 100% NQA membership. It is required for
the chapter to have at least five (5) members who belong to NQA.
- Chapters shall pay a $30 charter fee when enrolling as a new chapter
- Chapters shall pay an annual renewal fee of $20 to remain an active chapter in
good standing.
