50" x 67"

Azucar is a tribute in honor of our Latin Music Masters who have passed and left their footprints in the world of music. Growing up, I learned the true meaning of passion, melancholy, rhythm and dance though the music and lyrics of these unforgettable legends. Listening to the beat of Tito Puente's timbales, Mongo Santamaria and Ray Barretto's congas, Machito's maracas and Celia Cruz's resonating voice made this quilting journey an exhilarating experience which is unforgettable to me. My only regrets is that the quilt is not big enough to include the many Latin Music Legends that also deserve honor and recognition. Special thanks to my sister Lillian Santos for her inspirations fueled by her passion for Latin Music.
