"Blues Roots"
Lucinda Alexander
68" x 59"
I made the quilt about the ladies of the early Blues because, I remember reading and Studying these legendary women in music. I was always interested in the blues and how these great performers lived and sing these songs. As a child, I remember the family playing these songs either on a guitar or playing them on the record player. This quilt is a dedication to the artist and my family who played them. The idea for this quilt, I want to use a collage effected using photos of the artist on a blue surface, using cotton poplin fabric. I sew the photos on the background fabric on the machine using a zig zag stitch then hand stitch the layers together.
