"Swingin’ by da River"

Swingin’ by da River, by Myna Majors

"Swingin’ by da River"

40" x 40"

"Swingin' by da River,"  is my tribute to Swing.  In my opinion,  Swing represents good times for all.  While the male dancer possesses charisma and sensuality,  the female dancer displays her quick feet,  gymnastic abilities,  and sexy playfulness.  When you have the right chemistry between the dancers,  Watch out Y’all. So, men,  grab your zoot suits,  pocket watches, spats, and hat.   Ladies put on all your finery,  from the dress with the tight bodice and full skirt and petticoat, gloves, hat and a lot of feathers, and Swing Y'all, Swing!

Completed: April 2006 Technique: Appliquéd and hand quilted
Fiber: Cotton and feathers
Dimension: 40" x 40"
Artist: Myna Majors

Myna Majors is an avid artist, poetess and dancer. Over the years she has combined her talents with her new found love of quilting.  Myna's love for appliqué,  choosing bright colored fabrics,  feathers and craziness, is incorporated in all of her recent quilts and is fast becoming her artistic signature.

Sistah Myna (Ms. Diva or Ms. Myna to close friends), has recently exhibited several art pieces, utilizing several different mediums, with Quilters & Artists in Motion.  She has also exhibited with Quilters at Kennedy Center and of course with Harlem Girls Quilting Circle.

Ms. Myna, an alumni of the High School of Art and Design, has an extensive art portfolio, which now includes her colorful Quilts.  She is member of the National Quilters Association and loves the Quilting World.

NQA and its Chapters present these quilts to be seen and enjoyed on our website - but not copied by any means. These quilts remain the artistic property of the makers. Standard copyright rules apply.
