What's "the Buzz..."?

September is a month of change. Summer is drawing to a close, kids are returning to school and it is time for the changing of the guard on the NQA board of directors. As one of those who will continue on with the incoming board, I am extremely grateful for the efforts of those who have served NQA over the past year.

I also want to welcome Ruth Pollow to her new position as board President. I know she will do a wonderful job for NQA in the coming year!

From the President - Ruth Pollow

Volunteerism is alive and strong.  I want to welcome you to a new NQA year.  Every two years, September brings onboard a new leadership team.  As the incoming president, I want to thank every member who has stepped forward this year to make our Quilt Show such a success and those who have chosen to give even more of their time and energy to be part of the NQA Board.  Check out the upcoming issue of The Quilting Quarterly to meet these extraordinary women.

It’s by raising your hand and saying “I’ll do that job” that empowers quilters at every level, whether it’s your local guild committees, your state or regional organization, and of course, the National Quilting Association.  If your guild is not yet an NQA Chapter, this may be the time to check out the benefits of becoming one.  Coordinate a workday to make little quilts that your guild donates to NQA for our Little Quilt Auction that takes place in June at our Annual Quilt Show.  Funds raised at this auction become available to Chapters through the NQA Grant Program.  There are so many ways we can bring quilting to others; it just takes a raised hand and the desire to serve.

Ruth Pollow, President

From the 2013 Show Directors

We are hard at work on the 44th Annual National Quilting Association Show to be held June 27-29, 2013.  This year’s special exhibits and the SewBatik Challenge will showcase the theme “Celebrate America!”  We are looking forward to displaying your works of art and at the same time celebrating our national pride.  Last year’s show introduced some exciting changes, including the new exhibit hall layout and our free lectures.  2013 will bring additional changes and updates and we want our members to be included!  If you would like to present a lecture or be included in the Friday Morning Medley or have suggestions or comments you would like to share, please contact us through showdirectors@nqaquilts.org.  We would love to hear from you!
